On June 4, 2012, the University of Hawai'i - West O'ahu and Waipahu High School launched the first Early College High School program in the State of Hawai'i by offering its students the opportunity to take a course in Psychology for free.  The class had 30 available seats with more than 50 students hoping to grab one of the seats.

Admittedly, the resounding of the early college high school success is largely attributed to the confluence and support of all vested stakeholders: unwavering support from UHWO and WHS administrators, counselors, teachers, mentors and tutors, as well as parental encouragement and peer recognition.
