Miss Karen Agtang is a freshman, proudly attending Waipahu High School Early College.  She is currently taking Speech 151 this spring semester and thoroughly enjoys tackling the rigorous college course.  As an Early College Olympian, she plans on earning an Associates in Arts degree through the Early Collage Program by the end of her senior year in high school. In addition, she is also in the Waipahu High School Band and enjoys playing the clarinet.

 

Daniel Baon is currently an 8th grade student at Waipahu Intermediate school.  He moved to Hawaii from the Philippines in 2008 with his parents and two sisters.  He is now currently an 8th grade student at Waipahu Intermediate school.  Daniel aims for high goals in the future, like becoming a Valedictorian, earning scholarships, and enrolling at an Ivy-league schools.   He has already taken the University System college placement examination, demonstrated college readiness, submitted his college application and looks forward to taking his first 3-credit college course this summer before even starting high school.  He hopes to learn as much as he can from this experience and hopes that it will better prepare him for the future.  Although he is uncertain over which college to enroll in, Daniel currently aspires to be a psychologist.

 

Miss Bailey Bernabe is currently a junior at Kapa’a High school, and is enrolled as an early college student who is currently taking English 100. She started taking early college classes as a sophomore. Miss Bernabe has also completed Math 103 and Speech 151 and she plans to enroll in Math 205 next fall. She is involved in a variety of clubs ranging from National Honors Society to student government.  Bailey is the junior class president and also serves on the Kauai district student council as their secretary. She is also the branch manager of the Warrior Credit Union, a branch of her local credit union that was just opened at Kapa’a High School. She will be attending the presidential inauguration in January of 2017 with her high school’s civics club. Miss Bernabe plans to pursue a career in various fields of law. She is actively involved in her local politics and plans to get involved in national politics.

 

Miss Angelica Blancaflor is currently a freshman at the University of Hawaii at West Oahu. She was originally from the Philippines but her family decided to move to Hawaii when she was three years old. She recently graduated from Nanakuli High and Intermediate School where she was given the opportunity to take an early college class during  her senior year (Astronomy 110.)  Presently, she is majoring in Elementary Education and hopes that one day she can make an impact and help students reach their full potential and goals in life.

 

Jarren Calizo is currently a freshman at Waipahu High School and is also enrolled as an Early College student. He first registered in the EC program (LCC) this Spring 2016 semester as an Olympian and chose to immediately take 3 classes, which are Speech 151, Music 107 and Religion 207. Jarren employs top-of-the-line expectations for himself in his future, like maintaining his straight A’s in both HS and EC, becoming a future Valedictorian, earning scholarships and getting accepted into an outstanding university in the mainland. His academic drive is inspired by his favorite Bible verse “I can do all things through Him who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:13). Jarren is really involved in his school’s extracurricular clubs, which his two favorite clubs are SkillsUSA and Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society. He has a variety of interests, such as programming, sports, and playing guitar. Jarren is not fully sure in what university/institute he plans to attend, but he has his sights set at either MIT, Stanford U or UC-Berkeley. Despite his uncertainty, he plans on majoring in Computer Science and become a Software Engineer in the future.

 

Miss Crystal Cebedo is a graduating senior at Waianae High School. She was born in California, but moved to Waianae when she was five years old. Her experience in early college classes spans from the beginning of her junior year to the first semester of her senior year. In that time, she has completed about five early college classes from both Leeward Community College and University of Hawaii at West Oahu. She is heavily involved in student journalism at Searider Productions. In the six years that she has pursued media, she has traveled to Florida, California, Georgia, and Vietnam. She also enjoys color guard and has once served as a color guard coordinator for the Waianae Intermediate Marching Band and Color Guard for three years. In the fall of 2016, she intends to continue her journalism at Menlo College in Atherton, California.

 

Miss Myra Krizzha Mae Domingo is currently a freshman at Hawaii Pacific University.  When Miss Domingo was a senior at Waipahu High School, she enrolled as an Early College student and was a straight “A” student.  As a senior, she also conducted research that investigated factors which contribute to Early College success.  Her senior project research was entitled, “Waipahu High School Early College: A Case Study of Psychometric Variables that Contribute to Early College Success,” and was in partial fulfillment of a Board of Education Recognition Diploma with Honors.  Miss Domingo was valedictorian of the Class of 2015 and aspires to be to become a physician.

 

Miss Fhebby Kate Dumaoal was born in Philippines and moved to Kauai in 2013 to begin her sophomore year. In her 3 years at Kapaa High, she has been part of the National Honor Society and the cheerleading team. This year, Fhebby took Math 103. Eventually, she wants to become a registered nurse.

 

Miss Asia-Taimane Fereti is a Waipahu High School senior.  She began taking Early College classes as rising junior and throughout the course of the past two years, she has taken Psychology 100, Astronomy 110, Speech 151 and Samoan 101 -- a total of 13 college credits, and is a straight “A” student.  Asia was also an active member of the Waipahu High School Early College Debate Team.  Last summer, upon completing the UH West Oahu Early College Summer Program, Asia was given the honor of being the student responder for the certificate ceremony where she addressed several Hawaii State Legislators, the Chancellor of UH West Oahu, the Principal of Waipahu High School, UH West Oahu faculty, over fifty students and other dignitaries.  Asia aspires to be an attorney one day so that she can help represent people who are too poor to obtain legal counsel.

 

Miss Kristine Julian is currently a freshman at the University of Hawaii, Manoa and is majoring in Nursing.  When she was a Waipahu High School Early College student, she enrolled in Sociology 100, Speech 151, English Composition 100 and Calculus 205 in which she was a straight "A" student.  During her senior year at Waipahu High School, Miss Julian earned a 4.2 GPA and was honored as Valedictorian in May 2015.  Miss Julian has not only achieved extraordinary honors through her membership in the National Honor Society, but additionally, she was also inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society, at Leeward Community College in the spring 2015 semester.  When Miss Julian was a high school senior, she conducted research entitled "EdReady: A Comparative Study of Accelerated Learning Effectiveness,” and was a co-presenters at the National Early College Conference in Dallas, Texas on December 10, 2014.

 

Logan Isamu Sokei is a Kapa'a High School senior currently enrolled in an early college class. He has completed Math 104 and is currently enrolled in English 100. And he is also a part of the Pacific & Asian Affairs Counsel after school class. He is currently planning to get a degree in Secondary Education in History to become a High School History Teacher

 

Ms. Diamond Tuisano is a senior at Wai'anae High School. She is looking forward to attending Champlain College in Burlington, VT in Fall 2016. There, she hopes to attain her Bachelors in Early Education/Elementary Teaching. She took her first early college class of Psychology 100, as a junior, in Fall 2014. Her career goal is to enrich her future students with a positive attitude and a hardworking demeanor.

 

Miss Amber Viernes is currently an eighth grade student who is attending Waipahu Intermediate School and has already applied for the 2016 Waipahu High School Early College Summer Bridge Program.  Believing in the principle of "Consistency, Persistency, Simplicity," Amber works very hard to achieve her goals.  She has a variety of interests, such as drawing, video editing, photography, programming, music composition and math.  At the moment, she is unsure about which college she would like to attend after completing high school, but she is considering the Savannah College of Art and Design.  Despite this uncertainty, she clearly aspires to specialize in the art career field.
